Come and celebrate the Orange District's rich history of being an apple growing region. The Orange Apple Festival featuring all things apples will run from Friday May 6 to Sunday May 8, 2016.

Celebrate all things Apples - our region, its history, as an orchard area and the fruit itself.

FRIDAY 6th MAY

School Activities

  • Dress up Day – wear ‘Apple Colours’ - red or green to school.
  • Apple Art – capture an apple in paint, ink, film to display @ Orange Farmers Market
  • Apple Pie Drive – fundraise for your school in association with Roberts Bakery, Whitey's Pies and IGA
  • 11am The BIG Crunch with children across the district all munching on apples sponsored by Woolworths
  • Visits from Growers, Producers, Chefs & Cooks to talk apples & count down the Big Crunch

The Apple Core at The Agrestic Grocer

Cooking demonstrations and tastings. 11am to 12:30pm. Free event 

Apple themed lunches and dinners available at local restaurants, cafés and wine bars

Participating venues include Angullong, Bissy's Café, Kate Jones @ 119, Good Eddy Coffee, Percy’s, Old Mill Café, Sugar Mill, Lolli Redini, Duntryleague, Scrumptious, Byng St Local Store, Coco’s, Bill Beans East, Anything Grows, Bensons, Factory Espresso, Union Bank and The Agrestic Grocer.

THE APPLE CORE AT THE AGRESTIC GROCER

Cooking demonstrations and tastings including the 'Grate' Apple Cook Up (see below). 10am to 12:30pm. Free event 

GRATE APPLE COOK UP

Drop in to the 'Apple Core' – The Agrestic Grocer to meet cooks, chef’s, foodies & some CWA ladies. Bring a peeler, a few empty glass jars & wear your favourite apron! We’ll be making apple sauce to give away - a jar for you, a jar to give to someone you know and a jar to give for to someone you don’t! Gold coin donation.

Apple RAMBLE

Includes apple pie morning tea and pulled pork and apple sauce lunch, bus to and from the orchard. Bus departs from the Apple Core at The Agrestic Grocer 11am and returns at 2pm. Cost: $30pp. To Book call 0417 060 554

Long Table Lunch in the Orchard

The humble 'Orange Apple' is the hero of this long table orchard lunch featuring dishes by one of the region's finest cooks, Edwena Mitchell. On a arrival you will be greeted with a Borrodell Cider. Enjoy three courses matched with Small Acres Cyder Premium Ciders in a cosy settling. Local Wine and Beer is available to be purchased at the cash bar. Sponsored by Woolworths.
